christmas crafting

Sooooo, crocheted scarves for Christmas. Its crazy how little you think and sometimes even look at a piece while you're working it. I feel like a drone. Hours and hours of hooking later here are some of the results. Still have a lot more to go.

every one hundred and ninety two minutes

A picture was taken every three hours and twelve minutes starting at 12:00a.m. December 3, 2011 for twenty four hours. The objects have been magnified, most to the point of obliteration. They draw on the details that are quite often unnoticed and unappreciated. Even now, most are "ruined" to the point of being unrecognizable as their whole beings.

A day in LA

I woke up to my sister screaming my name and banging on my door. This is commonplace for her, so I simply ignored her, but she stayed persistent as usual. So I finally climbed out of bed and over the disastrous mess on my floor to my bedroom door. Once I opened it, I was greeted by my poodle jumping on me and my terrier mix bouncing up and down while barking at me to pick her up. My sister started messing with my hair and told me to get ready; she was leaving in five minutes. Still in my onesie pajamas, I grabbed a few tops to choose from and a pair of shoes and socks. I frantically shoved a bunch of things in my bag and threw on some tights and shorts. I gave the dogs some food and water and locked up the house.
I got dressed in the car on the way to my sister's doctor's appointment. Next, we stopped by Jack in the Box for breakfast. Finally we started our journey to LA. My sister wanted to go to the Betsey Johnson Sample Sale. So I looked up the directions. Now here's the funny thing; my sister saw the time and date which were in accordance to the day and time, but as for location she simply saw Broadway. After a bit of searching around I realized the sale was in New York. So scratch that idea. We tried to look up other sales that were actually in LA, but they all started Friday and continued 'till Sunday.
We ended up rummaging through various shops in Santee Alley. My sister bought Christmas gifts for family members, co-workers and of course herself. I bought some accessories for myself as well as this awesome butterfly collection for my bedroom wall. Next, we went to visit our aunt. She's a clothing manufacturer with her building in Downtown LA. A few of our cousins and uncles work there as well. After a bit of chit chat and catching up, we set off for LACMA.
I was really excited about their new exhibit for Pacific Standard Time; my sister barely knew where we were driving. We started off our visit with the California Design exhibit in the Resnick Pavillion, continued to the Glenn Ligon: America exhibit in the Broad Contemporary Art Museum, and finished with the modern art collection in the Ahmanson Building.
Then we drove to the Little Tokyo area. We walked to MOCA Grand Ave and roamed their permanent collection masterworks, the Naked Hollywood: Weegee in Los Angeles exhibit, and A Tribute to Beatrice and Philip Gersh. Next we walked over to Marukai and bought some snacks- red bean mochi, Jones soda and an egg sandwich- to munch on. And next walked to the Geffen Contemporary at Moca for the Under the Big Black Sun exhibit. We finished off the night with a big bowl of ramen for each of us at Mr. Ramen's and journeyed back to the car in the cold night air.
